AeroGround Flughafen München GmbH, Munich Airport’s (FMG) ground handling subsidiary, has been awarded one of the three licences to provide ground handling services at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport. As a result, AeroGround will operate a second handling station in Berlin alongside its existing one at Munich Airport starting in July 2015. The licence is valid until 2022.
Munich Airport and its operating company, FMG, had two big reasons to celebrate today: First, the respected London-based Skytrax Institute has granted it the prestigious "Five-Star Airport" designation, making the Bavarian hub the first airport in Europe to earn this title. And second, Munich has successfully defended its ranking as the top airport in Europe and number three in the world in the 2015 World Airport Awards. Dr. Michael Kerkloh, the President and CEO of FMG, accepted the award from Edward Plaisted, the CEO of Skytrax, at a special ceremony at Munich Airport.
